From the Sideline

Leading by Example

Photo Story by Imogene Eagan

Kylie Honrud, a WWU senior volleyball player, was looking forward to making the most of her last season both on and off the court. In her first home game, during a pregame hype circle, she jumped up with her team and felt a pop in her ankle when she landed. Honrud, a kinesiology major, instantly suspected an Achilles tendon tear, a suspicion that was later confirmed by the team athletic trainer, Julie Weisgerber. Honrud’s season ended before she even started to play. This photo essay of Honrud’s experience watching and supporting her team from the sideline shows how a positive and honest mindset can help dictate recovery and growth. Honrud willed herself to heal, and even though she missed playing, she found no shortage of ways to contribute throughout her senior season.
